1) Packaging
The box is pretty full of information as well as recommended sound cards. Try the Creative
Sound Blaster Live!5.1 Sound card with this baby for the best results. It also comes with a 1
year warranty for the speakers. The entire set includes 4 satellites (the actual speakers),
a subwoofer (more or less the bass), 4 feet for the satellites, 2 sets of nails and clips for
hanging the 2 satellites on your wall (the other 2 are meant to be next to your computer) , an
AC power adapter and last but not least, 2 tripod stands for the rear speakers.
2) Appearances
To be honest these speakers are kind of plain and ugly... its white, and the satellites are
simple designs of box-like speakers and the subwoofer looks like a huge brick. The volume
control is HUMONGOUS and irritating, but luckily the set comes with some double-sided strips of
tape to stick the volume control to your monitor or desktop.I would have preferred the set in
black, though, the white is just plain yucky.
3) Sound
Alright, the most imporant part of this review, the sound quality. To test distortion, I turned up
the volume of both the computer and the speakers to full blast. My mum almost strangled me.
Anyway, I'm happy to announce the was little to no distrotion. I tried it first with a CD
(that means the quality is about 128 kilobits) and there a little buzz at full volume, but with
Mp3 no distortion at all. As for the Bass...it suxxxxxxxxxxxxx big time even at full power! Even
my new 2.1 speakers (The Creative Inspire 2400 2.1) have better bass. So... this is a set of
clear speakers, but unfortunately very weak. Good for budget buyers, but I recommend shelling
out about $15 for the Inpire 4.1 4400 speakers,or the Altec Lansing ACS54 4.1 speakers, both
about $92 form Sim Lim Square.I've heard of a Microlab M-100 B 5.1 speakers for only $99 from
ET Nova! But they said no stock...What a pity! 5.1!!!!! NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
